Dental care is vital to the overall health of any animal. Dental disease may lead to adverse health consequences with the heart, liver, and kidneys, and can affect the entire body through the bloodstream.
Dr. Ritchie has been teaching veterinary dentistry at the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine for the past 7 years. Veterinary hospitals all over the state of Louisiana, including LSU/SVM, have referred their dental and oral surgery patients to him for their care. Dr. Ritchie and his staff help patients everyday with basic dental and preventative care to very advanced, complex oral surgeries. Periodontal disease is the most common disease in dogs and cats. Unfortunately, it is not the only problem that can occur in their mouth. Dr. Ritchie also routinely performs root canals, crowns, jaw fracture repair, oral cancer surgery/treatments and orthodontics.
